| The End |
We made it !!! pictures uploaded see
above A good afternoon/evening was had by all at the Adam
& Eve last night (Sept 30) still got dribs and drabs coming in,
but we presented a cheque for just over £5000 to the Downs South
team. We sincerely hope that this will make a difference to them, and
will keep this site updated where possible. If anyone wants copies of the photos, just email me
and I will sort it for you. |
| Sept | Got a tune-up, and general
tidy all round from the MOT man
at the Cardrome. Running sweet as
a nut.Check out Dave
on 01708 474208
for general repairs as well. Decided on September 30th for out post rally bash. Lots of auction items still available, get down to the Adam & Eve for barbecue and frivolity on Sunday from about 3.00 p.m.We hope to have edited video on the screens as well as photo's. One last big push before the off next week, check out this weeks romford recorder ,dont forget the miles are going fast in the breakdown game. Hopefully we will break £4000 this week, lets get to £5000 if we can. Thanks to jim, june and the boatman customers who helped us with a generous £ 128.6 collected on saturday 8/9/07. New tyres again, thanks to Simon @ SDM for spotting the oddly positioned wheels and for stumping up for the two new front tyres. Got all the new lights mounted and working ! sorted the radiator problem etc. Last minute details to finalise and we are ready for the off. Cruised about 70 miles last week with no problems to report, seems to like 80 mph. Once again thanks to all who helped/donated, we are in the Romford recorder this week, and also in the Essex life mag. Pictures to come. 12-9-2007 Almost a disaster. The 'fixed' radiator sprung a leak overnight, some quick thinking from Dave at the cardrome, plus the offer of a free replacement radiator from Motex Automotive Distributors (01708-749963) thanks all and everything is tickety boo again. |

Live pig racing and poker tournament to
be held at the Rising Sun on August 17th. Spaces for the tournament are
limited, Entry costs just £20, with 50% of the entrance monies being
paid out as prize money. We shall be auctioning some items, we have a signed
Pete Tong
cd and t shirt, a car radio/cd with professional installation by online-caraudio.co.uk
(if the reserve is reached), A signed picture of racing cars by Martin
Brundle and some other goodies TBA. Please come along and support
Downs South. Dont forget to download the sponsorship form above, and send
in with your hard earned, thank you. A bit
of a strange one, but Steve has been given £20 not to publish a
picture from his recent holiday 'Carry on Cruising'. £20 is £20
and we are grateful however it comes. Thanks to Maria.
6th Check out the new carlos fandango's, nice wheels and tyres from a man who does. Also got new brake pads for the front. Superstar Chris from Ernricks sorted the brakes and other bits for us yesterday. the man deserves a round of applause for the assist. Just a tune up and we'll be ready to go. Sold about 150 of the breakdown miles, Nobby collected a great £71.65 from the lads at tnt associated news papers, thanks guys and gals. And they purchased many miles as well. Another pledge of £50 from the world famous stocktaker Geoffrey Kite thanks a million. Get your sponsor forms in , we are over £3000 but still need more for the Downs charity. Check out the miles, they are going quickly, a pound for a few hundred is great odds, just ask any accountant. Pig racing, there were no pigs, but what a laugh, mechanical pink piggies running down the track, blinding entertainment, thanks to Raymond. Another great night raised £740 for the charity and a lot of smiles as well. The poker tournament was hotly contested, the suggestion of a drugs test on Alan for not only making the finals table, but just for making any table in the right pub did not come to fruition, someone presumably got a backhander. Yours truly dramatically crashed and burned due to a lucky 6 on the river to John the publican. Despite my protests he apparently was allowed to use his own 'special' pack of cards. Ho Hum. Matthew (Big Boy)took first prize with a commanding chip position, Melvin (Aces) second John (The Publican),Paul (Hairy Monster) Sam (Barmaid) Alan (Spaceman) rounded out the top six. The latest addition to the growing list of corporate sponsors now includes Crafty Arts @ www.craftyarts.co.uk many thanks and your link is up. Diet queen Wendy is going a bit pear shaped, breakfast this morning consisited of a Full english and a bacon sarnie swiftly followed by a packet of chocolate digestives and a mini roll or two. Received confirmation from another corporate sponsor, Key Med who have generously donated £250 directly to Downs South, many thanks guys, visit their site @ http://www.keymed.co.uk/ . |

Super slimmer Wendy
has lost a superb 1 stone, well on her way to her target of 2, and so
far she has raised over £500 for the charity, a big up to her
and her supporters. |

Did you see this man last sunday? |
June 16th seems likely for a race night at the Adam
& Eve to support our Scally rally charity. Please come and support
us, we welcome any other scallys of course. This promises to be a great
night with spot prizes, raffles etc. If any other teams are coming,
and bringing their cars, we will try to get the press there for photo's
etc..Let us know in advance. |
| May |
Painted the car,(sills etc) Hammerite from QD only £2.99 per
tin. ( Do you think they will sponsor us). |
| April | Not much to report so far.
Got insurance arranged by those nice people at Adrian Flux, many thanks, and they have donated raffle prizes too, superb. The list of needs/wants is getting longer. Any signmakers out there get in touch coz we need graphics for the car. Thanks to all our regulars and non-regulars who managed to collect a tremendous £241 in our scally rally bucket. Special thanks to the collector- you know who you are. Such generosity over the London Marathon weekend from the Adam & Eve faithful. A happy day today, the car got it's MOT. A very generous garage not far from the Cardrome, run by a certain Dave, MOT'd the car, repaired the bits that needed repairing, and furnished us with a sparkly new MOT certificate. Dont expect that kind of treatment for your average beemer or ford, but the man was very helpful and did us proud. The car needed (in no particular order): Wiper blades, bulbs, new earth to indicator, a tyre, brake adjustment, battery power etc. Dave can be contacted on 01708 474208. Pictures added. |

Got the car.
Very nice man Paul let us have a great deal on the ultimate Essex Boy
car---- A Ford Capri ---what else. Needs some welding and a seat but basically sound. Tragedy, collected the car yesterday, only drove 3 miles before overheating. Found some water and hey presto, all is good again. Needs a bit more work than first thought, but still a great buy and will do us proud on the rally. Already sourced two recaro seats, various service parts, lumenition, five speed gearbox, recon 2 litre engine if required. Thanks Icky .And the sun is shining (10-3-2007) what a day Most important news, organised the sound system for the trip, big thanks to Steve at online-caraudio.co.uk and also for the donation of a raffle prize for our charity auction. |
